The computer died
The admin team should be proud that SC is quite usable in the lynx browser. I was pleasantly surprised.

sorry to hear that man :(
Lynx? What are you using that on?

I run Debian
Right now I'm rebuilding my system. Something got really screwy with udev between last night and when I started up today. I was working on it for about an hour when I decided it'd be better to just back up my personal files and reinstall.
For the moment, I'm using Lynx until I can get the system rebuilt.

Birth Control Is Not a Medical Condition
Whereas Viagra is.
Why should men have to pay for women's choice to use or not to use birth control. Men on the other hand have no choice whether they take Viagra, because it's a medical condition. I mean really that is so unfair.
*sigh*
I guess it's a Man's World After All
It is the economy, stupid.
At least it wasn't John McCain who said that.
Just some numbskull MSM talking head.
On the other hand, John did vote against women getting birth control as part of their Health Insurance.
Freak Show in Antarctica
In The Driest Coldest Place on Earth
something freaky is happening. It's been raining.
Rain soaked baby penguins are freezing to death, before they have a chance to develop their feathers which repel water.
A miserable start to life, cold, wet and dying arctic penguins try to eke out an existence.
It is the economy, stupid.
That is incredibly depressing
Here's more
on baby penguins getting swept to Brazil.

What isn't these days?
We live in challenging times.
I try to keep a positive attitude as much as possible....... but some days it ain't easy.
Here's some good news. Protections restored for wolves
Public wolf hunts are off! Yeah! Folks don't realize there is a delicate balance in ecology, and the wolves help preserve it.
It is the economy, stupid.
Somewhat related
As for hunting of other animals, Deer in north central Ohio have only 2 natural predators now, hunters and motorized vehicles. There should be a few more of the former. Cars hitting deer = not good.
But for wolves I wonder how the other species lower on the food chain would do.

Iraqi Leader Backs Obama's Timeline
from der spiegel
Al-Maliki has long shown dissatisfaction for an open ended presence of the US military in Iraq.
Will the US respect the right of Iraq's to make their own decisions?
It is the economy, stupid.
But he wants a "horizon" not a timeline!
Although here he strays from the Bush script and says "timeframe" -- careful there, Mr. Maliki.

It's a fascinating art.

Another "Mistranslation"
..is what the government in Iraq is saying now. It's unfortunate, really. Two mistranslations in two weeks? That excuse is getting old rather quickly. The Bush Administration might as well embrace it's senioritis and just say "Look, we're not listening to them. We know what's best for
your countryour troops on the ground."http://wealthweekly.blogspot.com

Interesting analogy
by Al Gore at Netroots Nation
We are so often asked to find a remedy for a problem that has nothing to do with the actual problem, such as invading Iraq after 9/11.
Al Gore posits that this same wrong headed thinking applies to those who suggest that we can drill our way out of high gas prices. The real answer is weaning ourselves off of oil.

Good thoughts and cheering request
Ironman Lake Placid start in just over two hours. Supposed to a be a rainy day. (Shudder)
Good luck!
Google says it's raining, hope it isn't too bad. I can't imagine doing that under perfect conditions, let alone in lousy weather.

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone
Finished my second ironman with an improvement over my last time through of over an hour and a half. Huzzah!
It rained for about 13.5-14 hours There MAY have been a few gaps during the swim, but during the bike and and most of the run, it mostly ranged from light rain to torrential downpour. On the plus side, no danger of sunburn or overheating.
Last time was worse, as the skies were clear but there were 17-21mph winds during the bike, which just HAMMERED me.
Again, thanks for the well wishes. Now... sleepy time.
Good to hear bud
You must be in some seriously awesome shape. :)
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
Its all in the head
It does take a lot of prep to complete the course, but one of the truly inspirational things about the ironman is some of the age-group finishers (there are finishers in the 70-74 year old range), amputees (single or more) and the occasional legally blind person (they are allowed an assistant to guide them)
There are quite a few finishers who, to look at them, don't look all that fit. But they KNOW they can do it and they won't let anything stop them.
As an aside, the pizza at the finish line is the best pizza you will EVER get.
I hope you are doing good!!!
Good thoughts going your way!

Troop withdrawal timetable concerns Pentagon chief
The Pentagon's top military officer said Sunday a specific time frame for withdrawing U.S. combat troops from Iraq could jeopardize political and economic progress, leading to "dangerous consequences."
Semantics word game?
