Elections have consequences...

Who here has seen the exchange between Senator Boxer and Senator Inhofe during Wednesday's testimony by Al Gore before the committee she now chairs? If you haven't had the chance, go over to Crooks & Liars and watch this. It's short, only about 1 minute or so. Barbara was in prime form.

And that's the subject of this thread....Elections HAVE consequences. We've seen so many instances of late where the Republican MINORITY in the House and the Senate, as well as the dimbulbs of the Executive branch, still haven't quite adjusted to this new reality of being the MINORITY. They carry on with the hubris of the majority and continually fail to make the connection that they don't control the flow anymore. The fact is their dumb macho act is getting them in even deeper crap than if they just were more honest about what they want and what they stand for.

Examples are Karl Rove, Harriet Meirs, Kyle Sampson, and Abu Gonzales are about to justify impeachment proceedings against their lord and master because they couldn't think of answering sworn testimony before a group of folks that they didn't hand pick. And we've already seen, that it's the death of 1000 cuts that will bring this administration down. They thought they could run out the clock on the last 2 years of the bush43 presidency, but with their infantile behavior, they are seeing the clock moving rapidly forward to their own doomsday. Clearly Gonzales lied to the Senate in testimony already given. Equally clearly, Rove and the rest think they can continue to lie to our elected representatives without consequence.

They are oh so wrong. They are only fanning the flames that will one day soon engulf them of their own pride and greed. For myself, that day can't come soon enough. At least then, no more US GI's will be dying in vain for the imperial dreams of this idiotic administrations ambitions.

I want to add one thing....

It isn't the crime that got Nixon or Clinton in trouble. It was the coverup.

…………

It was the crime

that got the ball rolling - whether it was a real one or imaginary as the case may be.

Consequences, only if...

...the dems actually push the issues. So far they aren't exactly blazing a trail toward actual oversight. There's some progress, sure, but not enough for me to say that republicans are really facing the consequences.

Maybe they'll perk up, stop listening to their idiotic advisors and really make a difference. Maybe.

I came. I saw. I posted.

Well...crimes should have consequences.

To Newt Gingrich's credit

(and I need a cold shower after having typed those words), he recognized very well 1. where the Republican party was, 2. where the Republican party needed to be, and 3. how to convince people to go there. His contract ended up being so much fluff, but politically speaking it was a sharp maneuver. What hubris he had came about later, once he got what he wanted.
